We know that the game of art is not just a game, that understanding and creation go hand in hand. Here, the game as a system of representation is not unrelated to the knowledge that it is a constructive expression; it is internally regulated by processes of poetic imagination, attentive to the dynamics of the cultural system that determines it. Symbolisation appears as a way of grasping reality. It shares with science the essential task, for the same cognitive activity, of creating systems of symbols, the difference being in the symbolic processes used. Here, the non-verbal system has multiple, indirect and complex references and is subject to non-consensual interpretation.

Filipe Garcia works in an intellectual freedom that dispenses with the classical logic of non-contradiction and the excluded third. In this process, which invents us in the experimental and affirmative condition that presupposes the liberation of already given possibilities, there is a profound vitalism that does not renounce its symbolic distance. The mental thing, the material object that manifests it, is here an approximate trace. As for the language towards which consciousness tends, it will be added by the use and frequency of works of art and will always be in relation to meaning (understood problematically), that which is implicit in our existence, and here it is the work of sensation.
